More than riches and fame, the majority of people will say that they “just want to be happy”… and yet these same people will say that they aren’t as happy as they’d like to be (or that they could be happier). Which begs the question: “What’s holding you back from maximum happiness?” And though they will cite their unmet goals or unfortunate life circumstances as the source of their lukewarm happiness, it is in fact their lack of gratitude and appreciation for all the amazing blessings they have that is holding them back from maximum bliss. Change your perspective and your attitude will follow. Be grateful for absolutely everything and I guarantee you will be ultimately happy in every circumstance. Understand and appreciate that life could ALWAYS be worse. Happiness is a choice.
In school, sports, business, relationships, or life in general, the rule that “you must be present to win” always applies. That’s why Jesse Kemp’s advice is so prevelent: “The 1st step towards making a difference is to Suit Up & Show Up!” As a seasoned educator and mentor, I have experienced many fruitful relationships and seen many people make enormous positive changes in their lives… But I never had the priviledge of witnessing these changes during my first encounter with a person. It was only after weeks / months / years of me consistently “being there” for someone that they were able to trust, confide in, and eventually accept the help that I was offering them. “Nobody cares how much you know until the know how much you care.”
While so many desire the instant gratification of overnight success, very few are actually willing to do the hard work necessary and demonstrate the patience, dedication, and perseverance that the path to success actually requires. But for those who are willing to sacrifice the immediate for a shot at the legendary, their impact will be great and their reward will be long-lasting.
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
– Jesus Christ, Matthew 7:1-5
Christ said that “it is from the overflow of the heart that the mouth speaks” and Dr. King said that “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.” Thus, for the person with a heart overflowing with anger and hate, their only hope is for us to share our love with them. Not because they are deserving, but because neither were we when we received the love of God and he called us to “love one another as he loved us”. (John 13:34) The time is now to #ShareWhatsGood.
Good Luck & Bad Luck are not solely dictated by chance… You have to be in the “zone” to get lucky. That’s why lazy folks often experience more bad luck and motivated folks often experience more good luck. Sure, luck involves an elemenent of a chance opportunity, but if opportunity arrives and we’re not prepared, then the opportunity is lost. Thus the reason we need to get prepared now, so when the opportunity presents itself we can take full advantage of it and the lazy folks can talk about how “lucky” we are. Hardwork Foreshadows Good Luck… so go be lucky!
Fear, worry, and anxiety are all in complete contradiction to a strong faith in Christ. In the gospel of Matthew, Christ directly commands his followers: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Thus, any time we are worrying, fearful, or anxious, we must ask ourselves: “Do I really trust God? With what? Just the little details or with everything?”
“Sonny was right. The working man is a sucker, Dad. He is a sucker.”

“He’s wrong, it don’t take much strength to pull a trigger, but try and get up every morning, day after day, and work for a living. Let’s see him try that. Then we’ll see who’s the real tough guy. The working man is the tough guy, you’re father is the tough guy.” #BronxTale #FightTheGoodFight

Far too often, my foolish, selfish desires distract me from the things that are most important in my life. So rather than focus on all the things I want, I have found it infinitely more fulfilling to realize that what I have is ten times more than I need… A faith worth believing in, a family to love, and a job with a purpose greater than my own. #GodAlwaysProvides #ShareWhatsGood #OnlyWhatINeed #HeyBigBro
The goals we pursue should be worthy of our absolute best effort. Otherwise, we must question whether the goal is worthy of any our attention at all. Each time we expend effort towards one goal, we limit the effort we can expend on another goal. So we must choose our goals wisely and set our priorities correctly. Once set, we should expend all of our energy toward accomplishing these goals. There are no half-hearted winners. On the day this photo was taken, my goal was was to make the greatest campfire cooked burger that I was capable of making… Mission Accomplished. #gobigorgohome #sharewhatsgood
My wish is that we all can not only discover, but also embrace who we truly are. Each of us is “perfectly flawed” and that self-awareness allows us to build fruitful, grace-filled relationships through vulnerability. And if somebody doesn’t appreciate your flaws, forget ’em. #knowthyself #beerandwings #sharewhatsgood
The overwhelming majority of people are well-intentioned and honest. In general, we have more in common with our neighbors that we have differences. We seek to care for our families and do good by others. Yes, dirt-bags exist, but they are the exception to the rule. Try giving others the benefit of the doubt. They’ll most likely surprise you. People will rise to the occasion / expectation. And if they don’t, that’s on them. #LoveYourNeighbor #Posifocus
Don’t kid yourself… Life is hard. But it is also rewarding and fulfilling and exciting and at times tragic. It is filled with joy and sadness and relationships upon complicated relationships. And as difficult as it is to maintain a positive perspective, when you take a step back and look at the big picture, it is easy to see that the whole of life is not only worthwhile, but is also beautiful, struggles and all. #lifeisbeautiful #lifeisastruggle #sharewhatsgood #godalwaysprovides #heybigbro
If faith is “believing in the darkness what God told you in the light”, then true faith “runs” in the good times and continues to “put one foot in front of the other” through the trials. The strength of your faith is tested in the doubts. Everybody “believes” when it’s sunny, but only the legitimate followers “keep walking” in the rain.
Trolls and Haters are abundant, increasing in numbers and boldness the closer they get to a keyboard. But unless a man is willing to stand by his words in the public square, he should be paid no mind. With all that is wrong in the world, we must lift up the positives and #ShareWhatsGood! There is no time to engage with the trolls of negativity… and because it is impossible to “shout them down”, we must “drown them out” with a positive message of encouragement.
